Choosing your shingles isn't just about color.  Are they 3 tab, architectural, Cooling?  What is their wind resistance rating?  Do they have a moss protective coating on them?  Do they offer a manufactures warranty?  All very important questions! 

Removing the old layer of shingles can be messy.  Make sure your home is protected along with any shrubs or landscaping in your yard!  The Best roofing companies will also use a magnet to pick up any loose nails lying around. 

Moldings and Flashings help to prevent water from coming in around the edges of your home and around any pipes or chimneys.  These areas are the most likely place where water will enter into the house. 

Underlayment is the important layer in between your roofing plywood and the shingles.  If this layer isn't properly placed, or missing entirely, water will find it's way throughout the entire roof!  

Applying Shingles and installing the Ridge vent is an art.  If not done properly the shingles could blow off and the vents could not function properly!  Make sure your installer is a certified contractor through the product that they install!
